Are there debate classes in Germany?

I'm asking in good faith.

The reason I'm asking is that it seems that the general public (talking about here on Reddit), especially when discussing about sensitive topics like current affairs and politics, seem to always resort to insulting each other instead of exchanging arguments in a civil way. I'm curious to understand why people can't have different views and just get along. Why is everyone so polarized?

I admit also a part of this problem so don't bash me but I remember having debate classes when I was younger and the discussions here are the complete opposite.
