What happened to the Subway meatball sub?

I know subway is dirt but I used to enjoy a meatball sub every now and then. I’d say it was about 2 years ago that they changed the recipe to a more peppery kind of meatball and it’s just not great at all

I go back every few months in the hope that it’s returned to its former glory but unfortunately I’m always left disappointed.

Why do businesses do this? I’m guessing it’s a much cheaper recipe, this seems to be happening to so many things. I’d much prefer if they slightly upped the price or reduced the size rather than stump on quality. Can’t even enjoy a fucking dairy milk these days.
