Normal spacing on 2 part Rod?

Hey everyone. New to the BFS game. This is my first BFS combo attempt- DK 100 and a Seekbass travel rod all from Ali Express. Can’t get the rod to go flush the grip piece and don’t want to force it in there. I’ve already got it “stuck” once. Thanks!
