I hate that the regular season is devalued now
A popular take I've seen (and I don't disagree with) is that Ohio State truly proved themselves as the best team, and it vindicates the 12-team model as they would have been left out in the past.
While I don't disagree that Ohio State is the best team, and the 12-team model ensures the best team should win almost every time, I do hate that the regular season has been devalued as a direct result of it.
For example, Ohio State's loss to Michigan would have had so much more bite back in the 4-team era or BCS because they would have lost the chance to contend for the title. Similarly, Notre Dame's loss would have left them out, thus increasing the drama of the regular season. All of this silly discourse about 3-loss SEC teams would obviously be squashed too.
How do we feel about regular season losses being inherently devalued by the new system? I personally disagree College Football as unique in the regular season is its best part. I don't like the playoff, in that it puts more and more emphasis on the national championship/games in January, when college football is at its best in the Fall on campus environments. Right now, the playoff just feels like NFL with worse players and coaching.
