Can Someone Please Explain How Holding Calls Are Determined In This Game?

Can someone please explain the game logic behind the holding penalties? I’m in a dynasty with a friend of mine and he seems to never get them. I get them all the time and it is honestly infuriating. I run the ball more than he does. But the holding penalties are a game ruiner. I’m legitimately sick and tired of it. If someone could explain how the game determines it and what causes it beyond “it’s random” I would greatly appreciate it. Neither one of us know why I get them substantially more than he does. Slider is at default (50). My buddy had 0 holding calls in his last two games. I had 7 in my last game alone.
