Cats on Lysine-which form is best?

((Not an FIV kitty but FVR also first ever reddit post)) My kitty has herpes and it shows up as weepy eyes, her third eyelids all over the place, and occasional sneezing and snotty face. She has been on prednisolone acetate eye drops for most of her nearly 6 years of life. The drops certainly help to keep her eyes from turning red and the third eyelid getting involved as long as she gets her drops twice a day most days. The vet that prescribes her drops also added lysine treats to her diet about 1.5 years ago. The treats have helped immensely with her sneezing, coughing, runny nose and visibly 3rd lids. And she loves them, that's a huge plus. My question is, can anyone recommend lysine powder/gel/some other form of lysine over the treats or are the treats the best way to go? The veterinarian is passive and kind of has the attitude of "whatever the pet parent wants to do" (he's a good vet just looking for some actual opinions I guess).
