Troubles with the reintroduction phase?
Hey y'all!
I've been on the strict eliminatory phase of the low fodmap diet for... quite some time now. A bit more than three months, which is far more than the recommended time (4-6 weeks tops). The reason is that everytime I try to reintroduce a group (following the Monash app's protocol) I get a cocktail of insomnia, bloating and bad stools. So far I've tried Fructans, GOS, Sorbitol, Mannitol doesn't seem too good, and Lactose is off the table, as I am on a dairy-free diet.
When following the strict diet and not experimenting with other foods that don't fit me (e.g. : various low-fodmap protein powders I've tried have been pretty awful), symptoms are pretty much under control. But it's as if I can't seem to reintroduce much of anything without having symptoms.
So I just wanted to know if some of you are having this issue or have encountered it in the past and overcame it, and if so, how?
One odd observation I've made is that, while I was overall much worse off before going low fodmap, I didn't really get these bloating symptoms even though my daily diet unknowingly included very large quantities of Fructans and GOS. But now that I've cut them off, reintroducing them seems impossible.
