GCSE food tech- vegetarian.

My younger sister is a vegetarian and her food tech teacher has told her that if she chooses to take GCSE Food Tech, she will have to cook 2 dishes with chicken to prove she has the skills to cook and debone it. Obviously she will not want to touch or cook chicken, is it true that she will fail if she doesn’t cook it- as if this is the case she won’t take the course?
