Greatest black actors
Was watching Training Day with my girl last night and midway we kinda agreed that Denzel really is one of the greatest black actors in recent history. What a convincing depiction of a corrupt cop. He's got range. He can be a villain (except in Gladiator, for some reason,he didn't fit that role), anti hero or even the good guy...
So we were debating about second place and she said Idris Elba, I honestly couldn't think of one performance where he was memorable. I said Samuel L Jackson. I've watched Pulp Fiction more than thrice. "Say what again Motherfucker" was so good that it was used in The Boondocks.
Then there's one of our own, Eddie Gathegi. His role in The Startup, where he played a gangster who wanted out to take care of his family buy investing in a startup that sold drugs online and delivered using the post office and using online orders from the dark web. In my opinion Eddi Gathegi is more talented than Idril Elba but might have a less superstar status due to his humble personality. So I would put him above Idris Elba.
Who would you put as second/third/fourth best male/female black actors? Also you can't pick Morgan Freeman. He's GOAT level.
