Social life
So I’m an international student thinking of coming here. However after doing some research and speaking to some people, I found out that Australian universities actually have no culture of a ‘social life’. Whereas in other countries most students live in dorms or near the university, most Aussie students live at home and just commute for their classes. I also heard that people don’t really care about their uni other than just coming for classes and going back( obviously there are some exceptions, talking about the majority here).
So I wanted to know how true this is, whether the social life is actually dead and that there’s no school spirit or anything.
Also, do a lot of students even come to these uni events and stuff? How do people even maintain friends when everyone just lives at their home? I mean in most places college is for living with your friends and making memories like that.
If there’s anything else you would like to say, please do and be honest! I don’t want to make a mistake and come here and spend a lot of money for a subpar experience. I would rather then just study in my home country or either the US/UK.
Thankyou!
