American Dream?
Beneath the stars of red and white
The colors that provide us with might
Glimmer with hope and gleam
But is it how it always seems?
A house, a car, a white fence
What we seek traps us within
To take a drive that ends with a grin
The fence, a barrier to keep us in
My parent's eyes whisper echoes of stories untold
For I cannot imagine the burdens they hold
Searching for a place to belong
Somewhere they haven’t done wrong
