Query Regarding Double sleeving
Hi!
I recently got into the hobby and have been sleeving all my cards because it felt like the right thing to do. However, I haven't been able to find a clear answer to a question I have.
When sleeving, I often can't get the card to the bottom of the outer sleeve. To address this, I’ve been using the single/two-finger method: I place the card flat, face down, and use my fingers to gently slide the card down to the bottom of the outer sleeve.
The problem is: Perhaps my fingers are too thick, or the outer sleeve is too thin, but I often end up slightly curving the card while doing this. Admittedly, this makes my stomach tie itself in knots, even though the curve is nearly unnoticeable once the sleeving process is complete.
My question is: Is this the correct way of sleeving? Could this cause any damage, such as microtears, creases, or anything else that might impact the grading or appearance of the card?
I’m a perfectionist (read neurotic and obsessive), so I’d love to know if there’s a way to ensure I’m doing even less potential damage while sleeving my very expensive pieces of card eith pretty foil on them.
I’ve included a link to an image (not mine) that illustrates the method I’ve been using to sleeve my cards.
Specs: In case anyone is curious, I’m using Dragon Shield Perfect Fit Sealables and Dragon Shield Matte Clears.
