Competitor analysis in B2B SaaS

Hey - I’m the PM for a b2b reg tech product.

My problem: I want to get a deeper understanding of competitor products in the marketplace. In b2c, this is easy as I can just pay and use the tools. In b2b there’s a lot of gate keeping: as a competitor companies don’t want to share the details with me and certainly not pricing. So I’m left with google, YouTube, their website etc.

Has anyone got any tips on how to deal with this? I’m wondering about setting up a dummy website and profile and approaching the competitors as a prospect…
