Passed the S7 today!!

Hi all, just wanted to pitch in and let you know my experience of studying and passing the Series 7 today. All of your posts were really helpful, so thought I’d contribute as well.

First on preparation: I studied for 2 months total. First month passively, and then the second month I really locked in and focused on practice exams and details. I used Knopman which has been great. Total practice questions I did was 2880. I want to thank Dean- Series 7 Guru, his videos were so helpful and very clear and concise. His video on options made those calculations very easy. I would really recommend watching his videos on the chapters you’re struggling with, and also in general to learn the content. I did not read the entire book but I read the most likely tested chapters. This was helpful, and I would recommend you read the entire book. If I could redo my studying, I’d start with the reading and then jump into the video lectures. My full length practice exam scores were 54, 56, 68, 75, and my benchmark score was 67%. Which freaked me out, but I think if you score close to 70- you know enough to pass, so stay confident and keep up the momentum! I watched Dean's "night before, morning of" Series 7 summary. This was very helpful.

Now on the exam itself, I will say that I thought it was more difficult than the KM practice exams. The questions were worded in a way I wasn't used to with KM. I had to read the question multiple times, and so I actually ran out of time. I had 10-12 questions I had to review left, which I did not get to because the timer ran out. I had a lot of suitability questions(mainly bonds and investment companies), many options questions (breakeven, max gain, profit vs loss, cost basis, index options, hedging). I think 2-3 Margin questions. A few questions on communications, what registered reps can and cannot do. The rest random stuff, so try to learn as much as you can!

Overall, there were only 5-6 questions I felt very confident in. And the rest of the exam I felt like I was failing the whole time. My jaw dropped when I saw "Pass" written on my screen. Not to discourage or scare you at all. I'm telling you this because you should be confident in your studying and the knowledge you've picked up. I used Dean's method of "shop the answer," so I was able to narrow the answer down to two plausible answer options. I did the math questions twice to be sure (probably why I ran out of time). Even if you're not confident in your answer choice, trust your knowledge of the material is guiding you to the right answer. Sometimes the knowledge is just in the back of your mind, so trust your gut.

Thank you to the Series 7 Guru and goodluck to you test-takers!

Edit: Forgot to mention a few muni questions but not as many as I thought. These were mostly suitability and recall questions, no math.
