Israel Booth In the Nest
Making a throwaway just to post this. As a concerned UBC student, I cannot sit idly without posting about this, because this is ABSOLUTELY where I draw the line. I cannot go to campus knowing that there is a group of people in one of the main buildings on campus saying that Israel is not comitting a genocide. As someone who was born in Israel-occupied Palestine, I grew up around this rhetoric and know firsthand how bigoted it is. This is not a debate, this is a genocide that is observable from space and in the numbers of tens of thousands of civilian deaths. After telling the booth about these facts, that I hope they do not feel invited, and that I do not support them, they still claimed that the Israeli army is the most moral army in the world and that no genocide is happening. For a university as "progressive" as UBC this is absolutely embarassing, and we cannot afford to be neutral to people who deny this genocide, ESPECIALLY when there are so many Palestinian students on campus. Even if you are not a very politically inclined person, I hope you won't tell me that the dozens of pictures of dead Palestinian children we've all seen do not matter. Thanks for reading.
