Anyone take a gap year and come back to UX?

Personal question that you can't answer but I'm asking anyway because other opinions help me sort through my own thoughts.

I've been in UX for 5 years. A year ago I was laid off from a big corporation. Struggled busting my ass for 4 months to find another role. Part of me wishes I had taken the time off to take a break and travel the world but the fear of me never being able to get another job pushed me to work my ass off and apply to every opening until I got something.

Now after about half a year at my new job as a contractor, things were going well and they were talking about wanting to hire me in full-time. Just found out today that they won't be able to do that.

So now my options are:

A) Go back to grind mode and start applying to jobs where I can have a long-term career

B) Ride out this contract until 2026, save money, and then take 6 months to a year off and travel the world (maybe applying to the occasional job along the way)

The right option feels like B but I have a fear deep down where I always think I'm never going to be able to find another job.
