How important is Imdb really?

Hi! I'm an acting student, about to graduate in May. I keep hearing Imdb this, Imdb that and I understand that it's the place to get seen in the United States.

So this is specifically to the working actors in Europe: How important is Imdb there? I'm German and I have no desire to stay in the US right now. It feels like there is a lot of buzz around it in the US industry but the International works different from what I observed in my work so far.

I genuinely want to know if that is something I need to set up and concern myself with. I have an active Instagram profile I basically use as an actors card. I post headshots, what I do, some reels once I have them. Seems that makes Imdb pretty much obsolete to me.

But I'm just a naïve student and I'm really curious to hear some opinions on that! Thanks <3
