Urban Air Sucks
So I'm going to do my best here to try and explain exactly how bad this place is.
Here is there Page on FB so we know what business we're talking about here. https://www.facebook.com/UrbanAirMeridian/
It's worth mentioning that the positive reviews they have on their site are either A, friends of the owner, or B told to review the place after going for free on the opening Day.
My girlfriend got a job here and was going to be their assistant manager. They told her that they would pay her 15 an hour, but after deciding that they needed more manpower, swapped her over to salary. After countless nutty hours, (they legitimately worked her 60+hours a week 7 days a week), she got sick and was told by doctors not to go to work, (she got sick because they had her working with dust and cleaning things that were sitting in the building for years without masks). She has a doctors note for this if it matters. So she missed 3 days of work for this, upon coming back, they didn't seem to mind and continued to make her work 10-12 hour days assembling the park/trampolines/whatever else. One of the owners happily told her that she would be paid soon enough, so that's cool. When they told her the salary pay per year though, guess what? It was 30,000 a year. Note that this is under 15 an hour by those standards.
Mind you, assembling a park isn't really the job for assistant managers, but she didn't mind considering they told her how much they would help her learn and that they would pay her over 15 an hour, which they didn't.
Upon assembling the park, they had begun hiring high school students to work for them. These are 15 year old kids, by the way. The owners of this particular business in mind had 15 year old kids scheduled to work past 12 a.m. on school nights. So, my girlfriend, who is an assistant manager, decided to try and help out these kids. She helped fix one of their shifts, getting them off at 11:30, which is still garbage. As well as went around trying to make sure they had breaks and water.
After doing all this, she was told that was overstepping her bounds, (as assistant manager), and actually fired. They legit fired her for being nice to employees that were there. They were working children 15 years old on 8 hour shifts without any water and no breaks. (This is unfortunately legal in Idaho, before anybody gets too confused). It's still a bad thing to do, however. They had never given her warnings, or written her up, but they made sure to work her 60+hours a week,(minus the week she was sick), just to fire her for helping out the employees. The management/owners here are real scumbags, and I honestly seem to see urban air as a whole filled with poor reviews on these matters.
Does anyone have any tips/pointers on what we should do about this? I really can't believe how bad this is.
They essentially worked her as hard as they could, just to fire her when it was deemed fit and the park was built.
