The story of the traveling nanny
My story begins when my daughter was offered a contract with Four Seasons. My daughters have known Haleigh for a long time, and I got to know her in the summer of 2023. Both my daughter and Haleigh have children, and Haleigh wanted to hire me as a babysitter during their trips with Four Seasons so they could focus on creating content. She asked me to quit my job (thankfully I never did) and offered $5,000 a month. I even paid $725 for different trips upfront, with the promise I’d be reimbursed and paid for my services.
The day came for all of us to get our passports. We had already decided to expedite them to ensure we’d have them in time for our first trip. Unfortunately, when I went to apply for mine, I discovered that my birth certificate wasn’t an official copy, so I had to order one from my birth state.
I realized this delay meant I likely wouldn’t be able to go on the trips. That’s when Haleigh told me her representative from Four Seasons had connections at the passport office. As a travel company, it sounded plausible (though in hindsight, it was a mistake to believe this).
She had me fill out a form giving her representative (aka Haleigh) permission to file for my passport on my behalf. It all seemed very official at the time. She also said she needed my Social Security number, a copy of my driver’s license, and my birth certificate, which I provided. Looking back now, I know that no one can legally file for a passport on someone else’s behalf.
The passport never arrived, the trips never happened, and a (fake) lawyer was involved, who even had a “courier” pick up my birth certificate. I went without that important document for about eight months.
Thankfully, I’ve locked all my accounts, and so far, nothing has been tampered with. However, I still don’t know her true intentions in obtaining my personal information and the money I put down for trips has never been returned.
Editing to add: she did refund $250 but I am out still $475
