DIY Dumbbell rack (and home gym photos)

For Christmas I received dumbbell pairs ranging from 5 pounds to 50 pounds…right on. But when I started looking into dumbbell racks I could not find anything that I really wanted, so I decided to DIY it. I followed this article with a few modifications that I wanted to share… https://www.kaizendiygym.com/diy/dumbbell-rack-v2

Thoughts:

-i like the 70 degree angle, but became uncomfortable with it once i saw the kids trying to re-rack the dumbbells. But an easy fix, I added some furring strips for that act like a lip that the dumbbell would catch when setting it down. I actually added 2 strips to make a T.

-I added additional 2x4’s under the rack for extra support. I didn’t want any bending in the wood.

-I made the rack 6’ long

-I added mirrors behind it by taking additional 2x4s as a backing and squaring them up with a farmhouse crown to line up the 2x4s that support the mirror.

-I used ebony stain. I wanted it dark because the rubber on the dumbbells leave skid marks. Figured it was easy to hide it.

I also included other pics of the home gym since everyone else is.

Hope it inspires some ideas as posts from others gives me ideas.
