Which Japanese names are actually dated and/or weird for a young adult to have by todays standards? Especially ones that are commonly (mis)used in American media?
Additionally, is there a resource for name popularity in Japan by year from the 1900s to now? Thanks.
Edit: wow I didn’t expect this! Thank you so much for all of your comments! This is super helpful 😊 I know it’s a bit late to add another question, but I’ll ask here first before posting another one.
I saw that Naomi is dated, and I was wondering if there are other names that work in both English and Japanese are considered “normal” for young adults in Japan? Like Sara, Darian, Maria, Nina, Ken, Alan, Ray, Leo, etc? If so, do any of these names have kanji spellings, or only katakana?
