Time to Review the constitution
I love Brunei. My family, childhood friends, and cherished memories are all in Brunei. It's heartbreaking to see the limited opportunities available today, especially for our children and their future.
Graduates struggle to find employment, and those who do, receive salaries that don't meet basic living expenses.
We, the people, are not given the chance to address these issues without risking our livelihoods. Appointed officials - YBs and Cabinet - serve at the pleasure of No 1, and challenging the status quo can lead to immediate consequences.
It's frustrating to see that the children of those in power have secure futures with ministerial jobs or state allowances, while the rest of us struggle. This is not fair. Even No 1, speaking as a father, would find this unreasonable.
If the government had delivered on its promises, I would proudly support it. But time has shown that the current system is failing to prepare us for future challenges.
It's time to revisit the constitution and revamp the system. My father and I have given this system the opportunity to prove itself, but it has fallen short. I cannot remain silent any longer, and I urge others to think of their children's future.
We deserve what was promised in 1984 – democracy and the right to choose our PM. At this rate, our children will find themselves in despair and ask us why we didn't act.
Let this be proof that, despite the risks, I have spoken out for the sake of our children.
