Strike nurse orientation…
So there is a big union strike happening in my area in a week or so. As expected the hospital hired a bunch of strike nurses. However, they are making staff orient the strike nurses at different hospitals under the same company but that are not striking (union hasn’t made it to us yet). I never got an email from mgmt or anyone notifiying me I just saw I was assigned to orient on the schedule. They are also making the strike nurses sign a contract to work 3 wks at local area hospitals for strike pay (which is probably like 4x staff pay). It also seems like per their contract they are not to be cancelled so I guess they would put staff nurses on call if the census drops?
Some of my coworkers couldn’t understand why some nurses were upset about this.
Thoughts on this? Thoughts on crossing the picket?
