"Downgrade" to Oura Ring 3 to get a perfect fit?
Hi all
I have been reading countless of posts about sizing with the new gen 4, so sorry about another one of those posts.
However, I feel like question 2 and 3 below hasn't been discussed - and that it could potentially be an interesting input for many (myself included).
--- Background --- First off, I never had a smart ring before and my only experience with them is that I have been wearing test rings from gen 4 this past week. And due to personl reasons I would only like to wear my ring on my left index finger (i.e. only one finger = I sadly "require" a "perfect fit" for that one ring).
My conclusion is that I am in-between sizes (10 and 11).
--- The test rings --- The 10 feels snug when cold, a little tight during normal use, and very uncomfortable during the night. In none of the scenarios the ring shows an "air gap" on top when making a fist - only when i push on it. And in none of the scenarios is the ring able to rotate by itself. The ring requires wiggle/strong wiggle and/or soapy water to be taken off (which I find very uncomfortable).
The 11 feels almost too "light" (doesn't fall off, but feels almost non-existant, which scares me if the actual ring is "slippier", will it fall off?) when it's cold, light during normal use (very pleasant to wear) and perfect during night. In the cold scenario there is a small air gap max. <1 mm) when making a fist, in the normal use there is mostly no gap (max. <0,5 mm), and when sleeping there is no gap. In the cold weather the ring can easily be rotated with very light effort/touches. During the day the "stickiness" of the ring to my skin keeps it seemingly very well in place, and at nighttime it stays in place though - however, I don't know it if will be a problem during the day if the actual ring is more "slippery"). The ring requires no wiggling nor water to be taken off, but just needs to be "pulled" across my finger bump (very pleasant).
I absolutely prefer the feel of the size 11. But if the actual ring is morre slippery than this test ring, I am afraid it won't stay in place. I am not really afraid that it will fall off my finger by itself (except if I am swimming, which isn't so important for me). But I am afraid that the ring will miss a lot of data during normal use.
The attached pictures are of the size 11 during normal day use showing no visible gap with stretched fingers, and a little gap when making a fist. Tell me if more or certain pictures or a video would help.
--- Questions ---
Can anyone relate to the description of the fit and tell me if they had any problems with it falling off/rotating and/or missing data?
Is there any way of mkaing sure that the ring always has contact with my skin underneath (e.g. with putting some kind of "strip" at the top on the inside where there are no sensors?).
Did anyone consider or have any insight as to whether the gen 3 could be a better fit for me? I saw this other post saying that they would deem the gen 3 sizes almost like an "in-between" of the sizes of the gen 4 (due to the bumps). If that is the case, doesn't that by itself solve the "I am in-between sizes" problem? Just get the 3? The software (and almost hardware) is pretty much the same anyway?
I would love some insight from your experiences and thoughts on this.
With kind regards
