Rom-coms, movies, Disney, media, etc did not fool us about love itself. Just how common it's supposed to be.
For those who experience romance/love, it IS a magical feeling, whether it lasts long or short. The love itself is intoxicating, sweet, safe, etc. whether marriage is in the picture or not. It's just that the message that that love should be a definitr milestone to nearly everyone is what's the lie. So many millenials blame the media, movies and sometimes books from childhood for giving a false or overexaggerated look into love for the future. Not really. It just doesn't happen to as many people as society tells us. And that's okay too.
