scared about upcoming surgery
hey guys, i’m getting all four of my wisdom teeth out on december 11- the bottom right tooth has erupted a little and was causing me a LOT of pain, and when i met with the oral surgeon he told me i should just get all 4 out. I’ll be under IV sedation for the extraction and will be prescribed pain meds (oxycodone) for recovery. my extraction was described as “complex” for a couple reasons both of which are making me nervous. my bottom two are right on a nerve canal and the surgeon told me i will likely lose feeling in my lower lip and chin for a few weeks after recovery. my top two are resting on my sinus cavity so i have to get collagen injected into the holes there and am at risk for a perforated sinus. i’m on the “older” side for extraction (mid 20s) and the oral surgeon told me that’s why it’s more complicated. i took 5 days off work with a weekend right after so 7 days off total. im also deathly afraid of throwing up and by this sub it looks like that is common… the surgeon said im getting prescribed an anti nausea medication to help with any nausea, does it really help? i’ve started a note in my phone of all liquid/soft foods that sound good to me to eat, beyond the basic ones the dentist tells you about. my mom is gonna be around to keep me company and my partner works most days but will be around too which i’m thankful for.
does anyone have any advice/has anyone been through a more complicated surgery? i’m soooo freaked out about the nerve damage stuff and the pain and tummy troubles. anything appreciated.
