What kind of intimates are we wearing these days?

So I'm 24 and I've been rocking bikini-cut panties my whole life (also commonly referred to as grannie panties I guess?) Bc I am a firm believer in function over fashion. However growing up it seemed like most girls were wearing thongs or smaller cuts to avoid panty lines. I had a coworker at an old job complain to other coworkers that he could see my panty lines and it "ruined it for him" (incredibly sexist, I'm aware) but I just really prefer to be comfortable. Is wearing "grannie panties", even though they are VS, really that strange? or are you guys wearing them too?

Edit: maybe I don't know what cut I get. But whatever I get it's full coverage and comes over my hips lol. Idk what style that is. If it feels like a wedgie *I don't want it*
